Chef Samuel Azevedo started in 1988 at Mamma Maria, in the heart of Boston’s North End. He came in as a kitchen helper — prepping, cleaning, organizing, washing dishes — and worked every station until he was one of the chefs on the line.
He learned to make pasta by hand, to build traditional Italian sauces, and to run a kitchen with the kind of order that shows up on the plate. Later he moved to Euno Restaurant, where he developed the menu and trained the culinary team.
In 2008 he went back to Brazil and opened his own restaurant. Five years later, Italian cooking pulled him back to the United States — and Sam’s Kitchen opened its doors in Woburn.
Seven years on, it is still a family restaurant in the literal sense: Samuel in the kitchen, his wife Suamy, his son Klismann and his daughter Kimberly running it alongside him.
I went there for the first time recently, and the food was incredible. […] I got the Bolognese, which was one of the best I have ever had.
Excellent meal. […] Pasta was perfectly cooked, and the dish had the right amount of sauce. We both really enjoyed the experience.
Perfect dinner with downtown menu quality and hospitality in the suburbs.
Everything was excellent. Celebrated my birthday. Food was delicious, presentation was great. Service was very attentive and helpful.
Amazing dinner and incredible pastas! I strongly recommend this place for their perfect pasta noodles and delicious flavors. I can’t believe I just discovered this gem near where I live.
